Studying abroad nowadays is so much more common than twenty years ago. One very popular location is Spain. Some of the most popular cities in Spain to study abroad include Barcelona, Bilbao, Cadiz, Granada, Madrid, Salamanca, and Seville.
Although Madrid and Barcelona often have the most foreign students because of the size and popularity of the areas. For architecture and art students Barcelona is especially popular. Many students go here to learn the history of a very famous artist and architect named Gaudi. They study in Barcelona, not only to learn about the history of the area, but also about Gaudi’s barcelona. Madrid is Spain’s capital and the epicenter of the country.
As my sister and I were deciding on where we would like to study, we evaluated all of the cities and what they had to offer and even started a travel blog to keep all of our friends and family members updated about our travels and studies. Other important items that you must take into consideration include cost of living, reputation of universities in the city, the flexibility to get around in the city, and of course where you think you will feel the most comfortable.
Several of the major cities in Spain will allow you to be close the borders of other countries such as France and Portugal as well as close proximity to miles and miles of pristine beaches. So, you must think to yourself, do I prefer the city and the hustle and bustle of everyday life or would I prefer a more calm experience in a coastal community? It all depends on what type of experience you are looking for. Everyone is different, and different environments work well for different types of people.
Above all, you don’t want to underestimate the quality of the university and the program that you are considering. Not all schools and programs are the same so you will want to do some research for this aspect of your decision as well.
