The Benefits of a Eurail Pass

January 20, 2010

Europe is an expensive place to visit. Accommodations, food, and even sightseeing don’t come at a cheap price. Luckily, when it comes to traveling within Europe, there are some budget friendly options. There are cheap ways to travel Europe, and the best way is by purchasing a Eurail pass.

Eurail passes offer travelers the benefit of being able to travel as much as they want over a certain period of time. So, instead of purchasing a point-to-point ticket, like Paris to London, for X amount of dollars, you can purchase a Eurail pass for a certain amount and then be able to travel to certain places as much as you want. To purchase a ticket, just figure out how many countries you want to visit, and the number of travel days you need and then you have the freedom to take as many trains as you want each day.

Eurail passes are divided by length of time and the number of countries you want to visit. So, if you are in Europe for 3 months, and want to travel to say Paris, Athens, Barcelona, and Madrid, you would buy a pass that would allow you to travel to all those destinations within a three month span. The more countries you want to visit, and the longer you need your pass for, the more money it will cost.

The greatest advantage of a Eurail pass is the ability to travel as much as you want. If you are staying in England for a month but want to travel all around the country, purchase a regional pass and you can travel all over the country as much as you want. You can travel Europe with one pass instead of having to purchase multiple Europe train tickets.

You will end up saving money by purchasing one ticket that allows you as much train travel as you need versus having to purchase tickets each and every time you need a train.
