One of the best ways you can have a cheap holiday in the UK is to stay in a self catering accommodation. Although you’ll still have to cook, the fact that you’re away from home will probably be enough in itself to feel that you’re on a holiday. Of course you don’t have to cook as I’m sure that there will be a pub with take away on your doorstep where you can get some delicious low effort food.
The type of accommodation you choose to stay in is one of personal choice, but generally in order of price your options are to camp, stay in a static caravan, rent a log cabin or to hire out a holiday cottage.
Camping can be a real fun thing to do, in fact if you can guarantee that the weather will be good and that you will have a good sunny week, with little or no wind then I don’t think you can beat it. The unfortunate thing is, is that in the UK predicting the weather is a very difficult thing to do, staying south of England then you are much more likely to get fairer weather than you are in the North but that is certainly not set in stone. Ironically camping can actually be the worst holiday if the weather is rainy and wet.
Static caravans make a great choice of accommodation for the younger family they have all the practicalities of being at home but cost very little to rent for a week. You can find holiday parks that have caravans on whether and there will be plenty to keep younger children entertained, you will find that there are parks that have playgrounds and indoor activity centres so that regardless of the weather you children at least can have a good holiday.
Log cabins and cottages are really a next price brand up but if you choose to go out of season you can grab a real bargain. Like staying in a static caravan you’ll find log cabins on holiday parks also. Cottages tend to be stand alone and if you want somewhere that has some form of entertainment for younger children then that holiday cottage might not be the best option to you.
